Abstract Nanotechnology is an interdisciplinary research area including various processes from synthesis to characterization and applications of nanoparticles. In the last decade it became one of the rapidly growing fields with a great number of applications in multiple areas (Gebre and Sendeku, 2019). It is defined as the restructuring of matter at the atomic and molecular levels in the size range of about 1–100 nm. Thus, making them unique in terms of size, shape and porosity (Bharat, 2016, Rosa et al., 2017 and Gebre and Sendeku, 2019). Nanoparticles (NPs) as described by Patra et al. (2010) are particles with sizes less than nucleic acids, lipids, and proteins ranging from 1/100th to 1/10,000th of the size of human cells. Duran et al. (2011) and Bharat (2016) pointed out that the discovery of new materials, phenomena and processes at the nanoscale and the melioration of new theoretical and experimental techniques are opening new venues in science and technology. |
