Abstract

Summarizes the previous studies in the field of solar cells. The different types of solar cells for example organic solar cells, inorganic solar cells and other types are presented. The different constituents of solar cell as well as the theoretical explanations of the basic processes taking place in the solar cells. The sensitization processes in DSSCs using either organic and inorganic dyes or other natural dyes.
The theoretical methods used in the calculations performed in this thesis are briefly described. DFT theory, different functionals and different basis sets are also briefly presented. The solvation models used in the calculations are also summarized. Besides calculation of charge transfer, adsorption and quantum parameters are also introduced.
