Abstract This study shows that bulk and nano magnesium oxide have been perfomed to remove heavy metal such as Ni2+, Cr6+ ions from aqueous solutions. Batch adsorption experiment was conducted to study the effects of several variables including adsorbent dosage, contact time, pH and initial concentration on the adsorption of heavy metals such as Ni2+, Cr6+ ions from aqueous solutions diluted by using weast water. Results indicated that the percentage removal of Ni2+, Cr6+ ions was dependent on such variables. The results disclose that % removal of Ni (II) increased from 87.94% to 93.32% with increasing pH from 2 to 5. For pH value above 5, the % removal and adsorption capacity decreased with increased of pH, but in case of Cr+6 the % removal of Cr+6 increased from 74.14 to 86.62% with increase pH from 2 to 6 and. For pH value above 6, the % removal and adsorption capacity decreased with increasing pH |
