Abstract

Sepsis is a life-threatening illness characterized by a dysregulated host response to infection. It causes or contributes to between one-third and half of all hospital deaths (7).Patients with septic shock are an important sepsis subgroup and have circulatory and metabolic abnormalities that substantially increase their mortality risk. For these patients in particular, new treatments that improve outcomes are a global public health priority (7).It is unclear whether vitamin C, hydrocortisone, and thiamine are more effective than hydrocortisone alone in expediting resolution of septic shock. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding intravenous vitamin c and thiamine to hydrocortisone on the outcome of ICU septic patients.
