Abstract

Introduction: bronchial asthma and its prevalence in Egypt and worldwide, relationship between bronchial asthma and chemokine receptor 3 gene polymorphism. The aim of work: Estimate the prevalence of asthma among school-aged children. Estimate the prevalence of various symptom-based clinical phenotypes of asthma. Study the possible environmental determinants of asthma among school-aged children. Describe the pattern of therapy and asthma management among school-aged children. Explore the association between the underlying gene polymorphisms in chemokine receptor 3 (CCR3) and symptom-based clinical asthma phenotypes among the studied group. Research Plan: cross sectional study using modified form ISSAC questionnaire, another case control study to evaluate association of CCR3 gene polymorphism CCR3 T51C and bronchial asthma. Results: prevalence of bronchial asthma in Giza governorate was found to be 27.7 % in year 2019-2020, there was no significant association found between chemokine receptor 3 gene polymorphism and bronchial asthma. Conclusion: prevalence of bronchial asthma in Giza governorate is increasing due to risk factors that is affecting disease development, we could not find any association between chemokine receptor 3 polymorphism among Egyptian children.
