Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the utility of microalbuminuria in prediction of clinical outcome of critically ill children.
This was a prospective observational study conducted on pediatric department at Menoufia Faculty of Medicine hospitals, Shebin EL-Kom teaching hospital from October 2019 to October 2020. (40 cases) critically ill children admitted into the Pediatric ICU.
The results of our study showed that the patients were 57.5% males and 42.5% were females, the mean age was 4.73±4.74 years.
Regarding ACR, it was found that there was no significant difference between on admission measurement and after 24 hours.
The ACR on admission in ventilated patients was significantly higher than the non ventilated patients, after 24 hours also there was a highly significant increase in ACR in ventilated patients more than the non ventilated patients.
The sensitivity of ACR on admission to predict bad prognosis at cut off value 220 was 82.0%, specificity was 79.0 and total accuracy was 81.0%, while ACR after 24 hours showed a significant prediction of bad prognosis at cut off value 225, the sensitivity was 93.0%, specificity was 88.0% and total accuracy was 90.0%.
