المستخلص The current study aimed to identify the motives, patterns and customs of the population of border communities in Egypt and Sudan (Halayeb and Shalateen Abu Ramad - Wadi Halfa) for the social networking sites, As well as identifying the impact of the social networking sites on the values social cultural and economic customs, of the population of border communities in Egypt and Sudan (Halayeb and Shalateen - Wadi Halfa), Relying on many methods and approaches that helped the researcher in collecting the scientific material. The study relied on the comparative approach, the descriptive approach, and the anthropological approach with their various tools Such as the interview, participation observation, and the interview guide. The field study was conducted in the cities of Halayeb and Shalateen in Egypt, and Wadi Halfa in Sudan. According to the previous, the study reached a set of results, including: There are many motives among the population of these areas for using the social networking sites, including communication with family and close friends, knowing the news of the world around them, getting to know new cultures, a refuge to escape from the problems of reality, chatting, entertaining, spending time, and enhancing self-confidence through participation and expression the opinion. Facebook occupies the forefront of the social networking sites that members of the studied community willing to use, followed by YouTube, followed by Twitter, and followed by Instagram. There are a set of positive effects of the social networking sites on the values and the social customs of the border communities in Egypt and Sudan (Halayeb and Shalateen - Wadi Halfa), including raising the level of awareness and awareness of local, regional and global community issues, strengthening the ties of kinship, And enhancing the value of citizenship and belonging, while there are a set of negative effects of the social networking sites, such as the decline in the strength of traditional social relations between individuals in favor of virtual relationships. The field study reached that there are a set of negative effects of the social networking sites on the values and cultural customs of the studied society, such as the prevalence of consumer culture, by releasing the lust for consumption, and then distorting the values, customs and traditions of society.
