Abstract

The action of crude acetone extract of plants, azadirachta indica A. (fam: maliaceae) leaves, azadirachta indica A. (fam: maliaceae) seeds, canna indica L. (fam: cannaeae) rhizomes, dodonaea viscosa Jacq (fam: sapindaceae) leaves, lantana camara L. (fam: verbenaceae) leaves and lantana camara L. (fam: verbenaceae) flowers was studied upon larvae of the camel tick hyalomma dromedarii koch (acari: Ixodidae). Tick larvae were obtained by engorged fed females from lab colony. The bioassays were performed at 27±1{u00B0}C, RH > 75%. The tick larvae were treated with different concentrations of the extract by the thin film layer method. Mortality was observed after exposure. All motionless larvae were considered to be dead. The extract of L. camara flowers showed larvicidal potential against larvae of H. dromedarii. The lethal concentrations of 8890ppm (LC50) and 446423ppm (LC90) were obtained. There was no mortality in the control group. The lethal concentrations LC50 and LC90 of diazinon were 225ppb and 5894ppb
