Abstract Hip fracture is the second most common cause of hospitalization for elderly patients. Ninety percent of trochanteric fractures in the elderly patients result from a simple fall and are a considerable burden to the health care system through their association with increased mortality. The goals of management of any hip fractures, other than reducing mortality, is to return patients safely and efficiently to their pre-fracture level of function without long-term disability and avoiding medical complications and to give the patient sufficient independence |
