Abstract
The aim of the present study is to compare between the anti- inflammatory effect of simvastatin , rosuvastatin alone and in combination with prednisolone on the inflammatory bowel disease model. 96 adult females albino rats weighting 160-210g were used. Results,The present study showed that intra-colonic administration of 1 ml of acetic acid (10% conc.) using polyethylene tube (8F) resulted in significant increase in mean disease activity index (DAI), mean colon weight, mean colonic myeloperoxidase (MPO),and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFÜ) levels. Also there was significant increase in mean macroscopic and microscopic pathological score of colon. Conclusion, The present study showed that, prophylactic and therapeutic administration of either simvastatin or rosuvastatin significantly decrease inflammatory parameter. however, rosuvastatin and prednisolone were more significant than simvastatin. However there was no significant difference between rosuvastatin and prednisolone
