Abstract

Most cases of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) become apparent when they are advanced. Hepatocytes respond with the development of HCC as a result of many genetic differences. Identification of new markers is needed to characterize HCC patients. The family of interferon-induced transmembrane protein exhibits a broad range of antiviral activity. Cellular differentiation, mortality, cell adhesion, and immune cell variation are all regulated by IFITM3. MMP-9 are zinc-dependent endopeptidases which dissolve down the extracellular matrix and are essential for the development of cancer. The study investigated the role of MMP-9 and IFITM3 genetic polymorphisms in hepatocellular carcinoma development.
Aim of the work: Elucidate of possible relation between IFITM3 rs12252-CC‎‎‎ and MMP-9 1562 C/T (rs 3918242) gene polymorphisms in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.
Determine serum level of IFITM3 and MMP-9 proteins in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, The aim is the identification of early liver cancer biomarkers and treatment targets.
