Abstract

Due to the growing need to protect information privacy, hide communications, and uphold property rights, information hiding is a research area that has recently drawn more interest from interested parties. It serves as a form of defense against entities like hackers, intruders, and other cybercriminals by making it difficult for them to discover the existence of information. Therefore, various techniques have been used to hide the data in transmittable and unobtrusive digital materials such as sound, image and text where the data are embedded in these digital media. from previous research in this field, there is a group of factors affecting concealment of information in order to preserve confidential data in light of the exposure of the carrier’s signal to distortions or interception. In addition to, the strength necessary for confidential data to confront any objections, modifications or deletions by unauthorized persons. Also, the amount of data that can be hidden. Hence, the focus of this thesis is on the audio steganography technique as a type of data hiding where an image is hidden inside the audio signal. It was suggested to use the compression process in the stage of data embedding. Accordingly, more than one compression algorithm was compared to a high-quality color image, preferring one of them and using it in the audio steganography program and comparing the original sound with the output sound. The advantages of using the proposed algorithm appeared on the output sound and on the quality of the secret image sent to the recipients.
