Abstract
Neoplasms of the female genital tract are the second most frequent cancer among the female population after breast cancer. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) plays an important role in the diagnosis of gynecological lesions. However, conventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging has some limitations for lesion detection and characterization.The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of Diffusion Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging(DW-MRI)in different gynecological masses. This is a prospective cross-sectional study that was carried out at the Radiodiagnosis Department, Tanta University Hospital.The study included 30 female patients who were referred from department of Gynecology and Obstetrics during the period from December 2021 till November 2022 with uterine and adnexal masses. The patients underwent ultrasound examination of the uterus and adnexae with color doppler study. MRI examination was performed, including DW-MRI was performed using the Magnetic Resonance Imaging machines (GE 1.5 tesla) in our Radiodiagnosis department, using different pulse sequences.
