Abstract

The present investigation was carried out at the Experimental Farm of the Rice Research and Training Center, field crops Research institute, A.R.C during the two growing seasons 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. It aimed to study the performance of some Egyptian rice and wheat cultivars under various treatments of organic and inorganic fertilization.
The most important results could be summarized as follow:
For wheat crop, the combination of Masr2 + NPK mineral fertilizer produced the highest number of days to flowering. However, the lowest number of days to flowering were found with msr3+ Compost. The application of NPK mineral fertilizer to rice cultivar Sakha 108 +compost +2/3NPK produced the highest number of days to flowering. However, the lowest number of days to flowering was found with Sakha 106+ compost. The combination of Giza 171 fertilized with compost alone or compost + 1/3 NPK recorded the shortest period from seeding to harvest in both seasons, respectively. Generally, the application of NPK mineral fertilizer extended the period significantly for all wheat varieties. In rice, Sakha 101 +NPK mineral fertilizer in 2019 season produced the highest number of days to harvest. In 2020 the application of NPK mineral fertilizer alone to Sakha 108 produced the highest no. of days to harvest. However, the lowest number of days to harvest was found with Sakha 106+ Compost.
