Abstract Azo-azomethine compounds are class of compounds that have two functional groups containing the nitrogen atom, (-N=N-) and (-N=C-), which provide them with unique chemical and physical capabilities due to their thermal properties, capacity to ligate to metal ions, optical, and biological activities. The studies in the present thesis are concerned with the synthesis of novel multiple dentation azo-azomethine dye (H2L) based-mixed heterocyclic moieties linked to benzoxazole and pyridine scaffolds and its novel binuclear Ni(II), Cu(II), Ru(III), and Zr(IV) 2:1 metal to ligand stoichiometric chelates. It deals with the elucidation of their structures experimentally by all possible analytical and spectroscopic methods and theoretically by 3D molecular modeling. The potential of the synthesized compounds for therapeutic and catalytic use was also assessed in the present thesis. |
