Abstract

Dose measurements were made on a Varian linear acceleratorwhich provides electron beam of energies 6, 9, 12 and 15 MeV. Standard field size ranging from 5x5cm2 to 25×25cm2is used. The reproducibility, linearity, sensitivity and dose response of diodedetector (IBA EFD 3G Electron Dosimetry Diode) were evaluated for all electron energies.
The diode responses were found to be highly linear over the measured dose range of 25 cGy to 1000 cGy. The reproducibility was found to be < 1.5%. The dose measurements for 6, 9, 12 and 15 MeV electron energies show good agreement with the calculation of TPS <2.45 %. The difference in dose measurements between the ionization chamber and diode for all field sizes was within ±2.3%. Output factors (dose) measured by the diode for 5×5, 10×10, 15×15, 20×20 and 25×25 cm2 applicator were compared with those obtained from Linear accelerator for 6,9,12 and 15 MeV electron energies by TPS.
An excellent agreement was observed among the central axis depth dose curves measured using ionization chamber, diode and TPS.
Overall results indicate that the Diode can be utilized to perform measurements as vivo dosimetry for electron field beam compared with Ionization chamber and TPS.
