Abstract
Purpose: The main objective is constructing a comprehensive model to evaluate and enhance the performance of News Websites by investigating the role of organizational innovation. Previous literature have a gap in investigating the role of organizational innovation, some literature were focusing on innovation strategy only, and some literature were focusing on support for innovation only, the few others literature didn’t measures the mediating effect of organizational innovation. This study is investigating the impact of innovation strategy and support for innovation on organizational performance by mediating organizational innovation in the Egyptian News Websites.
Design/methodology/approach: The study had investigated all the Egyptian News Websites, 19 Egyptian News Websites were investigated by the study. The study executed exploratory study by conducting 8 interviews with managers and readers for Egyptian News Websites to explore the problem. The study conducted 9 interviews with managers for Egyptian News Websites and academicians to confirm the validity of variables’ measuring and the survey wording. The study had collected 201 surveys that were answered by News Websites managers.
Findings: Six hypotheses out of seven were accepted, the accepted hypotheses indicated that organizational innovation is a full mediator between innovation strategy and organizational performance, it also indicated that organizational innovation is a partial mediator between supports for innovation and organizational performance. The study cleared out the importance of Research and Development Team and the importance of imitation to improve News Websites performance.
Originality/value: Presented a comprehensive method to evaluate and enhance the performance of News Websites
