Abstract The Gulf of Suez must be considered as an important route for oil tankers transportation and it suffered for a long time from considerable sources of land based and sea based activities wastes such as (untreated domestic sewage, industrial effluents from refineries and companies, fish processing activities and oil seepage). All these sources may enhance the levels of hydrocarbons in water and therefore, may increase the pollutants accumulations not only in bottom sediments but also in different biota especially fish and shells. The present study aimed to achieve water body with reliable specifications for flourishing of the aquatic of beneficial type of human life. With determination concentrations of physico-chemical parameters and nutrient salts of water, determination the concentration levels of dissolved and dispersed petroleum hydrocarbons and spreading, concentration, sources and varieties of poly-aromatic hydrocarbons in water, benthic sediments and some biota and try to find a way to resolve petroleum pollution problem in marine environment. |
