Abstract
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women, accounting for 31 % of all female cancers. About 5% of newly diagnosed breast cancer cases present with metastatic disease, and one-third of women diagnosed with earlier stage breast cancer develop metastatic disease. Breast cancer also is responsible for 15 % of cancer deaths in women, making it the second cause of cancer deaths. Metastatic breast cancer is incurable disease, and thus the principle aim of treatments is to increase the duration of time free from disease-related symptoms with minimal toxicities, thus ensuring the maximum quality of life for the majority of patients
