Abstract This is a case control aims to determine the level of (sphingosine 1 phosphate) in serum and its relationship to Community aquired pneumonia in children. Our study was conducted on 88 children, including 44 patients with pneumonia, who were collected from Abu El-Rish Children’s Hospital at Cairo University, and their diagnosis was confirmed with Community aquired pneumonia. And the contro group consisted of 44 children without symptoms of pneumonia, the study showed that the level of (Sphingosine 1 phosphate) in children with C.A. pneumonia is higher than children without it, also results showed that it is possible to rely on sphingosine 1 phosphate in the diagnosis and prediction of community aquired pneumonia severity, complications and its role in the development of the child’s clinical condition in terms of symptoms and need for hospital or PICU admisson and can predict response to treatment |
