Abstract
Thoracotomy is used for exploration of thoracic cavity for management of pulmonary, mediastinal, diaphragmatic and esophageal diseases, and it is common cause of sever acute pain. This acute pain increases post operative morbidity and prolongs the hospital stay. This pain may lead to hypoxia, atelectasis, chest infection and ventilation perfusion mismatch due to altered mechanical functions of the lungs.
