Abstract For many patients, the diagnosis of severe mental illness like psychotic or bipolar disorders is experienced as a trauma and may later cause post-traumatic stress reactions. Moreover, patients of acute psychotic disorder or bipolar disorder are exposed to traumas that again makes them more liable to develop posttraumatic stress disorder. Accordingly, we hypothesized that PTSD may be more associated with patients of acute psychotic disorder or bipolar disorder. The aim of present study: The assessment of association between PTSD and each of acute psychotic and first episode bipolar disorders and the factors associated with it. The study sample was divided into case groups (acute psychotic case group and first episode bipolar case group) and control group (Persons without physical or mental illness). |
