Abstract

A total of 200 isolates were studied, most of them were E. coli (47.5%), Klebsiella spp. (17.5%), pseudomonas spp. (8.5%). Twenty antibiotics were used in this study. The 3rd period was the highest in resistance. Amikacin was the most efficient antibiotic tested against most of the bacterial species. About 99% of isolates were multidrug resistant isolates. The combination (amikacin /imipenem /tigecycline /cefepime) was the only one which achieved >90% killing against all of the 12 MDR isolates. All the 14 MDR isolates appeared partial elimination of resistance after treating with acridine orange that indicates that resistance was plasmid and chromosomal mediated
