Abstract

Dental implant placement is a good option for teeth replacement. The surgical placement of implant is accompanied by some pain and there is a needed time for tissue healing. Low Level Laser therapy is an additive tool for dental application and can offer a lot of advantages in the field of dental implant. This work was undertaken to assess pain and bone status after dental implant surgery combined with LLLT in comparison to placebo control through VAS and digital radiographs. Six cases with 21 bilateral dental implants were randomly assigned to right or left side lased groups and the outcome was pain (VAS at 6 hours, 3 days and 7 days postoperatively), relative bone density changes and relative bone level changes (by Digora software for digital radiographs taken at 0, 3 and 6 months postoperatively). The only significant difference was in VAS at 6 hours in favor of laser group
