Abstract

Evaluation of IL-12 as a biomarker in hepatic patients. To fulfill the target of this study, a total of 100 patients were selected. They were divided into 4 groups; G1 (chronic HBV infected patients); G2 (chronic HBV infected patients under treatment); G3 (previous HBV infection and immunity to hepatitis B) and G4 (vaccinated subjects as control group). The liver function pattern of these groups were monitored relatively to IL-12 as a biomarker for HBV viral infection. Data Recorded revealed that there as a there was highly significant negative correlation between interleukin-12 and Total Bililrubin level in (G4), and between Interleukin-12 and total bililrubin in (G2); between Interleukin-12 and in AST (G2). There was highly significant negative correlation between interleukin-12 and AST level in (G3).There was highly significant negative correlation between Interleukin-12 and albumin level in (G3), There was highly significant positive correlation between Interleukin-12 and Alkaline phosphatase level in (G3). Conclusion: Serum Interleukin-12 is a good biomarker of hepatitis B in Egyptian hepatitis B patients
