Abstract

The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between the perception and attitude of nursing staff toward nursing research, and patient advocacy. Method: A descriptive, correlation design was used in this study. Sample: Convenient sample of nursing staff worked in critical care units at Elmanial specialized hospital and Cairo university hospitals total population of nurses number (100) nursing staff. Tool: questionnaire was developed for measure nurses perception and attitude toward nursing research and patient advocacy. It developed based on review literature. Results: The totals mean scores of nursing staff and research activities, the highest total mean score (Mean10.2000 SD ±3.01) for total perceived value of nursing research. While, the lowest total mean score (Mean 13.3500 SD± 4.2) for total perception of personnel in your unit about research. Total of nursing staff and research activities scale were (Mean 96.2, SD 26.37),The totals mean scores of nursing staff proactive nursing advocacy that the highest total means score (Mean 32.4 SD± 5.3) for total work status and advocacy actions. While, the lowest total mean score (Mean 27.4 SD± 4.4) for total role of nursing as patient advocate in scientific research. The totals mean scores for proactive nursing advocacy were (Mean 113.8 SD± 19.5) The relationship between perception and attitude of nursing staff toward scientific nursing research and patient advocacy (M 27.4 SD 4.4) (7o.2%) moderate
