Abstract The prognosis for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma accompanied by portal vein tumor thrombus is generally poor. Without treatment, the median survival ranges from 2.7 to 4 months. Multiple studies investigated the response of portal vein tumor thrombus to radiation therapy. Most of these studies were retrospective or small prospective trials. This study provides detailed information regarding the thrombus response to radiotherapy and the survival outcome. The study also analyzes the prognostic factors of both thrombus response and survival. The results may help to understand the potential factors that influence survival in such cases |
