Abstract Pressure reduction regulators are themost important basic elements in natural gas distribution networks. An overview of the nature of natural gas, components, history of natural gas in Egypt and the world, Egypt’s production of natural gas, methods of transporting natural gas for export or transportation for local consumption, raw materials used in gas transmission pipelines are reviewed. Studying types of pressure reduction regulators in terms of control forces acting on the valve opening and the variables affect these forces and their effects on the performance curve of each type clarifying the phenomenon of droop and boost is covered. Methods of selection of pressure reduction regulator according to the nature of their work are presented. Studying the acoustic waves in pressure regulator starting, and the difference between flow induced vibration (FIV) and acoustic induced vibration (AIV) to reduce vibration in regulators using the general equation for calculating the sound power level is applied. |
