Abstract Background : Atherosclerosis, is a chronic inflammatory process in the walls of arteries, caused by the accumulation of macrophages, white blood cells and promoted by low-density lipoproteins, without adequate removal of fats and cholesterol from the macrophages. It is characterized by the formation of multiple plaques within the arteries Aim of the work: To study the relationship between the different degrees of coronary artery calcification detected by MDCT and the significance of coronary stenosis during coronary angiography. Resuts :Dyslipidemia is significantly affecting the calcium score as well as the degree of coronary stenosis .Calcium score in each vessel was significantly affecting the degrees of stenosis in that vessel, besides the the total calcium score was significantly affecting the number of the diseased vessels as well as the degree of stenosis , which increased in higher calcium scores . MDCT scan is the best method to evauate the site , and extent as well as the distribution and the total amount of calcium using the agatston score |
