Abstract

In this study, A total of 1310 different samples were collected from different sources including bovine (calves and cows), human samples (children stools and urine), poultry (fecal swabs and internal organs), Meat and meat products (meat, minced meat), milk (bulk milk, mastitic milk), Plant (lettuce, arugula, green fenugreek, fenugreek seeds and cucumber) and environmental samples (sewage, conduit water, surface swabs from poultry farms and soil from dairy farm). The isolation rate of E.coli from different sources, where 207 isolates (21.4%) was isolated from 967 different sources. Environmental sources showed the highest rate of isolation (31.03%) followed by poultry source; bovine source; meat and meat product source; human source; and milk source (28.6%; 25.3%; 24%; 20%; and 14.3% respectively) and plant source showed the lowest rate of isolation (9.9%). O26 was the highest serotype isolated (4.03%). It was isolated from bovine samples, human samples, meat and meat products, plant and environmental samples (19.4%, 70%, 20.8%, 15% and 33.3% respectively) followed by O111 isolates (3.8%) isolated from bovine samples, milk samples, plant and environmental samples (29.8%, 20%, 40% and 11.1% respectively). Untyped E.coli (2.5%) isolated from bovine, poultry, meat and meat products, plants and environmental samples in a range 11.6%, 23.5%, 8.3%, 10% and 11.1% respectively; O78 (2.2%) isolated from bovine, poultry and from environmental samples (6.4%, 44.1% and 3.7%); O55 isolates (2.1%) isolated from bovine samples, meat and meat products and milk (19.4%, 12.5% and 13.3% respectively). O101 (1.1%) was isolated from milk, plant and environmental samples (20%, 30% and 7.4%respectively). O2 (0.5%) was isolated from poultry samples meat and meat products 8.8% and 8.3% respectively
