Abstract
This thesis comprises four main chapters. Introduction, discussion, biological activity of a number of the prepared compounds, and the experimental part. The first chapter is the introduction which reviewed the recent methods and techniques in literatures for synthesis of lactose derivatives. The second chapter, involves a detailed discussion of the results obtained by the candidate throughout the work; in which (E) -1-((2,3,4,5,6)-3,4- dihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)-5-
(2,3,4,5,6)-3,4,5-trihydroxy -6-(hydroxymethyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2yl)oxy)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)propan-2-one (lactose-1-(2-propanone)) 141 was prepared through condensation of lactose 1 with pentane-2,4-dione (acetylacetone).
