Abstract
The study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a training program based on nero-linguistic Programming in developing positive thinking skills and its effect on goal orientation of the students of the New Valley faculty of education. The sample of the study consisted of 60 male and female students with a mean age (21,4) and a standard deviation (0.564) from the students of the New Valley faculty of education. A training program based on nero-linguistic Programming , a positive thinking scale, and a goal orientation scale were applied on the sample of the study. Results of the study revealed that there were statistical significant differences ( at 0.01 level) between the means of scores of the experimental and control groups in the post test of the positive thinking and its various dimensions favoring the experimental group, there were statistically significant differences (at 0.01 level) between the means of scores of the experimental group in the pre post application of the positive thinking scale and its various dimensions (favouring post application). It also revealed that there were statistical significant differences ( at 0.01 level) between the means of scores of the experimental and control groups in the post scale of goal orientation and its various dimensions favoring the experimental group, there were statistically significant differences (at 0.01 level) between the means of scores of the experimental group in the pre post application of the goal orientation scale and its various dimensions (favouring post application) , there was a positive statistically significant correlation (at 0.01 level) between goal orientation and positive thinking. As well as there was no statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the male and femal students in the positive thinking skills.
