Abstract

Background: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is one of the important biomarkers used to confirm the diagnosis of PCOS and to manage the treatment process in adult and adolescent patients (Nichols et al., 2005). The aim of this study was to detect the level of anti-müllerian hormone in adolescent females with PCOS and to evaluate its diagnostic role and to correlate it to the other diagnostic criteria of PCOS. Patients and Methods: The study was a cross-sectional, that was conducted on 30 PCOS patient, 30 high risk patient, and 30 age-matched controls aged from 15-19 year. Every patient and control underwent full history, Anthropometric measurements were taken for every participant ,The blood samples for hormonal assay were collected 5 days after menstruation, A single transvaginal ultrasound scan was performed at a random time (during the menstrual cycles) in the included females Results: This study showed AMH exhibited a sensitivity of 75.9% and a specificity of 55% for the discrimination of PCOS cases with AUC of 0.771
