Abstract Background : Recently, computed tomography (CT) has been introduced for pre-surgical implant planning. Prosthetically driven implant placement using computer software may ensure precise placement and predictable prosthetic outcomes. Stereolithography and selective laser sintering had become a favorable option for fabricating surgical guides. Purpose : To compare between laser sintering & stereolithiographgic techniques for manufacturing the surgical guides on the accuracy of implants{u2019} placement in completely edentulous patients using CBCT. Material and methods : Pre operative CBCT scanning were made for the patients; while they were wearing radiographic template. After planning of the surgical guide on software, printing with either stereolithography or selective laser sintering according to the group studied. Two implants were installed in the mandibular canine-premolar areas following computer aided surgical guides. Another post-operative CBCT scan was made for the patients while wearing the same radiographic template. Superimposition of the pre-operative CBCT (virtual planning) and the postoperative CBCT after implants insertion was made |
