Abstract The process of exploiting the available spectrum frequency resources to increase the system capacity, quality, and reliability named frequency assignment problem (FAP). This thesis tackled three main models of FAP as a single objective, which are minimum interference MI-FAP, minimum order MI-FAP, and minimum span MSFAP. The three mentioned models are solved by two modified algorithms based on particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO). The provided intensified PSO (IPSO) algorithm used to tackle the MO-FAP, while the introduced guided search PSO (GPSO) applied to both of MI-FAP, and MS-FAP. Moreover, the FAP has been introduced as a multi-objective problem for multi-channel users. The main two objectives of the exposed model are to minimize the total interference cost, and the total different used number of bandwidth frequencies. Also, an adapted PSO algorithm named {u0190}-PSO has been introduced where, the multi-objective problem has transferred to a single problem using the {u0190}-constraint method. Then, the modified PSO algorithm was used to tackle the proposed problems |
