Abstract Background: Minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) technique is one of the many options forthe fixation of diaphyseal fractures of the shaft of humerus using the anterior approach. We evaluated theclinical, radiographic, and functional outcomes over a minimum follow up of 5 months using the MIPOtechnique to fracture shaft of humerus. Materials and methods: This was a prospective case series included 20 adult patients with diaphyseal fractures of the humerustreated with MIPO technique between July 2017 and April2018. Exclusion criteria included skeletally immature patients, vascular injury, radial nerve injury, pathological fractures, neglected fractures 24 weeks3, Gustillo-Anderson grade III fractures and humeral shaft fractures involving distal third. Narrow 4.5 LCP was usedfor MIPO technique in most of cases 2narrow 4.5 DCP was used in 2 cases and PHILOS plate was used in one case3 after closed indirect reduction.Callus formation at the fracture site radiologically, and alleviation of pain on movement were the criteriafor union. We assessed shoulder function using UCLA shoulder score and elbow function using Mayoelbow performance scores, respectively. We also used DASH score to assess the disabilities of the limb |
