Abstract This study were carried out in new valley teaching veterinary hospital in new valley Egypt. During Breeding season, total of twenty cyclic Farafra ewes were used in this study in order to, evaluate the effect of non steroidal aromatase inhibitor (Letrozole) on ovarian activity. Studying follicular dynamics, number and diameter of ovulatory follicles, Estrus characteristics including onset, duration, time of ovulation, number and diameter of formed corpora lutea and their blood supply. In addition, hormonal and biochemical profiles during the period of the study were investigated. Animals were divided into two equal groups (n=10). First group (G1) was recieved intravaginal sponge containing 7.5mg letrozole for five days in fifth day. Sponge was removed and each animal received I/M injection of Estrumate. The second group (G2) was treated with ovisynch protocol for synchronizing ovulation (GPG Group). Blood Samples were collected daily in addition to ultrasound examination that performed daily. In addition to steroidal hormonal analysis using commercial Elisa Kits. Activity of aromatase enzyme was measured. Biochemical analysis was conducted in order to study the effect of aromatase on the biochemical profile of treated ewes |
