Abstract

Nano-fertilizers are new generation of the synthetic fertilizers which gives them the extra advantage of increased uptake rate as compared to conventional fertilizers. This study aims to compare the effect of some combinations of nano and mineral sources of N fertilizers on some quantitative and qualitative traits of (Lactuca sativa L). The experiments were carried out in Kafrelsheikh University’s research farm, during two seasons of 2017 and 2018.
The treatments included two irrigation methods (surface or drip), two nitrogen fertilizers sources (bulk or nano particles) with different combinations and two application methods (soil or foliar application). The results indicated that drip irrigation and nano source of N significantly improved lettuce growth, yield and quality. The best combination was 75% of the recommended demand of N fertilizer (as feritgation) and foliar spray by nano N. Also, this combination achieved the highest plant leaf area, absolute growth rate, net assimilation rate, yield, β-carotene content and leaf N content as well it increased N uptake, apparent N recovery efficiency, N use efficiency.
