Abstract

The present study aims at assessing natural and anthropogenic impacts on
El-Alamein area, Matrouh governorate of Egypt using integrated
approach of remote sensing and spatial analyses. Landsat TM 2000,
ETM+ 2010, and OLI 2020 satellite sensors were processed to assess the
spatiotemporal changes in shoreline and land use / cover (LULC).
Further, a total number of 25 sites were surveyed and sampled for water
and bottom sediments for lab analyses to assess quality characteristics,
heavy metals content and associated variables including contamination
and ecological risk indices. Inverse distance weighting (IDW) was used
to map water, sediment properties and all contamination indices. Some
statistical calculations were performed to assess the depositional
environments. All image processing and spatial analyses were performed
using ENVI 5.3 and ArcGIS 10.5 software.
