Abstract It can be concluded that black solider fly larvae has a good nutritional profile in terms of proximate analysis, amino acids and fatty acids. It could be concluded that commonly available organic waste can be used successfully to produce high quality of black solider fly larvae that have the potential to substitute other animal / or plant derived protein source in commercial livestock feed. The production of black solider fly larvae as a protein source for animal feeds is certainly a promising due to the high protein content as well as the high content of lauric acid are very positive traits. It was concluded that insects have the potential to use as a protein source in poultry and pre-weaning small ruminants ration without any negative effect on the animal. If the purpose that feed dairy cattle we recommend using the D1 diet that containing 5% BSFL meal fully fat and 10% soybean meal, because it gave the highest production of acetic acid necessary to supply the animal with energy and the formation of milk fat. Black solider fly larvae with high essential fatty acids, lauric acid as an antibacterial and lactic acid bacteria as probiotics has potential to be used as a functional feed for ruminants. Finally, the high concentration of grease on black solider fly larvae give an attention to the possibility of biodiesel production also the high concentration of oleic, linolenic, lauric, palmatic acids which makes the biodiesel product with better quality and specifications. |
