Abstract

To meet market requests, Alexandria port must increment its capacity as a result of expanding holder, the most issues confronting seaports nowadays are the need for space in seaport terminals and the increase in bottlenecks within the arriving transport framework that serves seaports. For Alexandria port, the weakest interface in its transportation framework is the back entryway, where swarmed streets or inadequate associations cause delays and increment transportation costs. In this manner, a vital choice will be to execute progressed multimodal railroads and inland terminals serving seaports inside the seaport range. The dry port concept is based on a seaport directly connected by rail to the inland multimodal terminals, and the implementation of a dry port in the back area of the seaport enables the seaport to increase its final capacity; A modular shift from road to rail reduces congestion at seaport gates and surrounding areas and thus in improved inland access, as well as in lower environmental impact, and thus suggests shifting volumes from road to more energy-efficient traffic modes, which are less harmful to the environment It reduces congestion in seaport terminals as well as in seaport cities. In response to a presidential mandate, the Egyptian government has launched several projects aimed at transforming Egypt into a global hub for trade and logistics at the regional, African, and international levels. Among the newly launched projects, Alexandria port expansion and regional development is an ambitious project that is pioneering the government’s investment recovery program as it paves the way for expanding Egypt’s role as a global hub for investors looking to do business in, or trade between Europe, Asia, and Africa. Reviewed, analyzed, and conduct the studies that have been taken by The JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) Study & The HPC Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH / Maritime Research & Consultation Center-MRCC Study and also the underdevelopment, short-term strategic plan, the long-term strategic plan for projects by the Alexandria port Authority.
