Abstract In terms of the importance of constructing mega projects, within an economic budget in Egypt, this research was initiated with the objective of investigating the influence of the contributing factors on the construction process and arranging them according to their relative importance in order to enhance the process itself. Primarily, objectives were set and a methodology was planned to encompass 4 investigations (Theoretical, Field Survey, Analytical-Results Implementation, and Inferential investigations). During the Theoretical Investigation, literature in the field of assessing construction projects from the construction production rate point of view was reviewed worldwide and in the Arab World so as in Egypt. Based on the theoretical Investigation, 52 factors were identified, as factors influencing construction projects. Throughout the Field Survey Investigation, a questionnaire was designed to incorporate the extracted 52 factors and distributed among a population of 52 individuals in 18 mega projects in Egypt. The questionnaire forms were assembled and analyzed. This was achieved by a statistical analysis software SPSS, where the most important 10 factors, in the Egyptian construction market, were identified. These factors were ranked according to their relative importance and severity level. During the Analytical-Results Implementation Investigation, the results of the questionnaire was analyzed and presented on graphs so as pie charts, from which an LPR index was identified. Moreover, the results implementation was achieved by creating a mobile app to assist construction managers to designate the LPR Index. In the Inferential Investigation, conclusions were deduced. In addition, recommendations were suggested to the future researches and Engineering Practice. The results attempted to fill the knowledge gap of LPR influencing factors, which is of high significance to construction practitioners to reflect the dominating factors on the operative performance. In addition, the research suggested the implementation of the LPR index as a guidance to managers for assigning labor force, which might assist in accomplishing a realistic level of competitiveness. |
