Abstract

I started my research from designing the letters from the writing to the appearance of the typography so we can notice the progress that happened all over the years, in the beginning, there was no typography it was all shapes means words for a while and after that Romans adopted the Cumae alphabet and here we started to have something call letter, for sometimes that letter-shaped the word that was written by hand for a long time, handwriting was a level of the progress they were designing books by there hand and drawing pictures with the written word and they were making a beautiful art, but with a lot of readers they needed a lot of hands to write, after that Gutenberg invented a printing in Germany, and made an industrial revolution and a lot of artists traveled to Germany to learn the technique of printing, and that technique reached Italy, France, and England . And those artists started to design different typefaces at that time.
In the Middle Ages. Horizontal lines appeared and were drawn to contain and align each line of characters. Today the letterforms and their parts are drawn on imaginary guides to achieving unity to the typography.
Then I started to discuss the emergence of some schools and movements that led to the development of typography from the seventeenth century to the twenty-first century, and there was a lot of schools and movements that helped in the evolution of the typography, one of those popular schools was Bauhaus in Germany this school graduate a lot of artists made their own schools led to huge progress in typography and designed a lot of different style of typefaces. And some of the previous movements were arts and crafts movement, fine art movements, dada movement, Italian futurism, constructivism.......
After that I started the late modern and postmodern era, and how this era made another progress in shapes of typography and how is the letter can be in a different design and it readable how we can design a lot of typefaces without destroying the unite of shape, we have a lot of greatest designers at this time of era they led us to another level of new typography, like Josef Muller, Armin Hofmann, Seymour Chwast, Wim Croiuwel and a lot more.
That electronic and digital development era and their impact on the evolution of typography we are going to discuss the digital era and how the technology made another progress on typography, how is the type looks like and the designers that used this technology to design a new style of typography and show us a new way of typography design, some of those designers are April Greiman, Edward Fella, Erik Spiekermann, Sheila Levrant De Bretteville .....
With the advent of the computer and the development of typography design programs, digital-based techniques have emerged. This technique is used to replace edges. (Endings) The coarse gradient by pixel is the soft edges in the design of good character types. These pixels are displayed in a mixture of color and background. This resulted in a smoother appearance of more duplicate characters.
At the last chapter I discuss applications of form and function in visual communication and I’ll have a lot of examples for what I’ve been talking about all the research I’ll show you a lot of designs of typography at a lot of things like packaging, newspaper, magazine, books, logos, posters, slogans, fashion, exhibits and more ..... .
The enormous diversity and many styles of typographic design have left the way for graphic designers to innovate with design thinking. And use it in the field of visual communication of various types and different means or in other words to produce designs capable of communicating the message to the public, whether printed or visible on various systems and different types of systems. This is now evident in the different spheres of life we live today, Modern graphic programs and modern design methods, methods and rules have also contributed to the growth of graphic design through the use of the novelty of design and typography.
