Abstract The present study was carried out at the fish lab., Sakha Aquaculture Research Unit, Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research-Abbassa, during summer season 2020. Nile tilapia fed four levels (0, 2.5, 5, and 10 ml/kg) of a liquid blend of herbal essential oils (EOs) contains carvacrol, oregano, 1,8 cineol, thymol, pinene, pinene β, limonene, and propylene glycol for 60 days to study the effected herbal essential oils (EOs) on growth, digestive enzyme activity, intestinal morphology and oxidative status in genetically improved farmed tilapia (GIFT) (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerlings. A group of 240 Nile tilapia fingerlings with 19 gm average initial body weight were randomly allotted into 4 treatments in 12 glass aquaria (60 l; 20 fish per aquarium). Each treatment was applied in three aquaria. Fresh tap water was stored in fiberglass tanks for 24h under aeration for dichlorination. A basal diet (30% crude protein) was formulated from the commercial ingredients (fish meal, soybean meal, yellow corn, wheat bran, Rice bran, Dicalcium phosphate, Fish oil and Vit and Min mixture). These ingredients were pressed by manufacturing machine (pellets size 1 to 2mm), Herbal essential oils (EOs) have been added in specific proportions. |
