Abstract

he goal of distal radius fracture treatment is to restore hand, wrist and forearm function with a high quality of motion and stability. Open reduction and internal fixation through Henry approach and application of volar locking plate is the gold standard in most cases of distal radius fractures The functional results were better with the polyaxial plate. The rate of complications and reoperation was equal for uniaxial and polyaxial plates. We recommend towards selective utilization of polaxial plates in cases where screw angle require free decision to fix unstable bony fragments such as in distal radial fractures AO 23 {u2013}C2 & C3 and also with C1 distal radial fractures associated with styloid radial fracture or die punch fracture to fix these fragments in variable angle mode Open reduction was performed using the volar flexor carpi radialis approach and fixed a volarly placed uniaxial or polyaxial volar locking plate
