Abstract

Introduction:Urodynamic studies are invasive procedures, in which bladder and abdominal pressures are recorded during filling of the bladder (filling cystometry), and the relationship between pressure in the bladder and urinary flow during emptying of the bladder is evaluated (pressure flow study). The aim of UDS is to reproduce the symptoms of the patient under controlled and measurable conditions. Objective:To evaluate urodynamic study findings and its association with symptomatology and other less invasive investigations in pediatric patients presenting with different types of voiding dysfunction. Patients and methods:Retrospective descriptive study carried out by reviewing database of 133pediatric patients who presented with any type of voiding dysfunction to the pediatric urology unit in Abou El Reech hospital from January 2017 to January 2019, they were divided into 5 subgroups based on their main disease state. All of them were subjected to detailed history taking and gathering of all previous investigations including urodynamic studies. The associations between urodynamic study findings on one hand and symptomatology and previous investigations on the other hand were statistically analyzed. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer program (version 19 windows) was used for data analysis replaced by other less invasive investigations
