Abstract Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni leaves have sensory and functional properties superior to those of many other high-potency sweeteners. They are likely to become a major source of natural sweetener for the growing food market. Root rot disease caused by Sclerotium rolfsii is a major serious disease. S. rolfsii is an important soil-borne pathogen, which causes severe damage to stevia in seedling and mature stages. Control of this disease has been accomplished primarily by chemical fungicides. Due to concerns of health and environmental hazards, the main goal of this study was to minimize the use of synthetic fungicides entirely or partially by natural ones. |
