Abstract

Background: Race walking sport appeared more variability and asymmetry due to its nature as learned not natural motion skill so, it increases the possible risk to injury and directly affecting the technique of performance to appear not legal according the sport rule. Therefore investigating the relationship between the inter limb asymmetry and injury rate of elite female race walking is an important to predict the injury rate in race walking populations. Race walkers are prone to the same injuries as in other sports like in running and these injuries were related to and consistent with its activity biomechanics and mostly explained through kinetics and kinematics parameters. Objective:So, this study aimed to investigate the relation between the inter limb symmetry of selected spatiotemporal parameters and the injury classification as a predictor of injury of elite femalerace walking. Methods:Twenty Egyptian female race walkers classified into injured and non-injured groups, 10 players in each group participated in this study. Evaluation of spatiotemporal parameters including (cadence, speed, step width, step length, stride length, stride time, step time, foot off and double support) were collected and processed through the expirement which conducted at the Gait Analysis Laboratory, at the National Institute of Neuromotor System, Egypt. Also, the inter limb symmetry index was calculated through symmetrical index equation Results and conclusion: The study population consisted of 20 females with mean age, body mass index, and height values of 19.9±1.79 years, 20.46±1.74 kg/m2and 162.9±8.87cm respectivelyfor injured group and 20±2years ,21.97±0.51kg/m2 and 162.5±4.37 cm respectively for non-injured groupjury prediction of race walkers
