Abstract

Extraction of teeth is followed by loss in height and width of the alveolar process, which will affect all the prosthetic options. So it was an interest to try to arrest this bone resorption or at least to minimize it. A variety of techniques and materials have been used for minimizing bone resorption as socket preservation. The use of hydroxyapatite has been proposed as a way to obtain a scaffold for enhancing of new bone formation. The therapeutic strategy of this approach is to enhance bone formation and improve the quality of bone healing. So the purpose of this study was to evaluate bone healing after using hydroxyapatite covered with cytoplast membrane versus covering the socket with cytoplast membrane only.To do this, results from denisty measurements of sockets of extracted molars after augmentation with hydroxyapatite synthetic bone and by using nonresorbable polytetrafluoroethylene (cytoplast membrane) in the study group were compared with the density when using the nonresorbable polytetrafluoroethylene (cytoplast membrane) .These measurements were obtained from digora scanners. 20 extractions of 14 patients were selected for assessment the bone denisty of the socket after augmentation with hydroxyapatite synthetic bone and by using nonresorbable polytetrafluoroethylene (cytoplast membrane) in the study group in comparison to the nonresorbable polytetrafluoroethylene (cytoplast membrane) in the control group
