Abstract Traditionally, wound debridement, dressing, full-or split-thickness skin grafts or flaps of various types (local, regional or distant; pedicle or free flaps) remain as the predominant treatment methods for repair of the large soft tissue defects, the main drawbacks of them are bulkiness, the risk of complications and failure, donor site morbidity, long hospitalization, unfavorable cosmetic, and functional results (Zhenmu et al., 2019). In 1980, the introduction of artificial dermis has revolutionized the management and reconstruction of skin defects, Artificial dermis Integra was invented and its use was advocated by Burke and Yannas. Since then, various types of artificial dermis products as Alloderm®, Dermagraft®, Terudermis®, Matriderm® and Pelnac ® have been put into the market and become a popular alternative in reconstruction surgery fields |
